On Monday, February 6 I get back on the bus. I’ve gained 50 pounds since moving to NYC in 2009. I’m tired all the time, and feel more awkward in social settings than I should. My friend Eric Bennett lost a lot of weight since August using the 17-Day Diet, and after two weeks of investigating what it takes to make it work, I’ll begin the diet on Monday. Here’s a few things I had to consider before jumping “whole hog” into this new diet:
- I’m using John 13:34 as my starting point — “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” If I want to love others well, first I need to know God’s love for me and accept it. He wants me to be “healthy, wealthy, and wise” to quote The Beach Boys.
- I did not want to miss SuperBowl Sunday munchies, so I set a hard start date of Monday, February 6.
- I researched the 17 Day Diet thoroughly.
- If I start on February 6 I will complete the cycle on April 13. That’s 68 days. I graduate May 5. Wouldn’t it be nice to be in good shape by graduation? I think so.
That said… my diet coincides with creating my life plan based on Michael Hyatt’s “Creating Your Personal Life Plan”. I’m making my plan in a connect group I’m facilitating through my fraternity. I’ve titled the connect group “Story: live your legacy”. Legacy is a heavy word. I’m considering the word over the next three months, and I think it’s the perfect time to introduce diet and exercise into the equation.
Come back tomorrow when I go over the pros and cons of the 17 Day Diet.
Cheers,
Josh
